RETURNING SOVEREIGN BIRTH TO MOTHERS AND FAMILIES

The eight-session Birth In Power private class series will reveal to you the childbearing continuum as it has evolved over the past few hundred years to modern day - from birthing alone in our own homes to birthing in hospitals in front of entire medical teams, and back to home again.

The series explores the basics of birth and postpartum recovery, and the many ways in which these experiences can unfold for modern day mothers. Natural, undisturbed, physiologic birth is emphasized as the ideal foundational birth scenario, and the truth about how and why giving birth in a hospital (or with licensed midwives) by default is NOT conducive to a safe and healthy birth experience will be explored.

If you are drawn to birthing at home or outside of the system, and want to learn the truth about birth and postpartum expansion, or if you would like to be able to support the birthing families in your life with a deeper understanding of what the physiological birthing process looks like when left undisturbed, this is the right class for you.

As a mother, I personally received both OBGYN and midwifery care, birthed both in the hospital and at home; both with medical attendants and without; both with an epidural and without. I have attended hospital, cesarean, birth center and midwife-supported home births as a birth doula, and I have mentored freebirthing mothers as to how to prepare for their sovereign birth at home.

When it comes to the postpartum realm, I’ve had three unique experiences myself (both with and without doula and family support, and also on lockdown in 2020), and I have supported a variety of families in their own homes in support of their innate parenting wisdom.

In addition to birthing and mothering three living children, I have experienced two losses and the recovery thereafter. As a result of all of the above, I have been blessed with the ability to both see and feel birth and motherhood from a variety of different perspectives. This makes me an excellent guide in regard to the realities of birth and postpartum versus the mistruths and cultural misunderstandings of these life experiences, which will help you in deciding where and how you wish to birth your baby. Birth matters, and your experience of bringing forth life is truly sacred. I am here to shine a light on this truth for you and all who love you and wish to support you during this time.
